Conversations about Possibilities – Themes and reflections from the International Philanthropy Collaboration

2007

The International Philanthropy Collaboration was an initiative of the R E Ross Trust in collaboration with the Myer Foundation and the Ian Potter Foundation. The Collaboration was a conversation where ideas, experiences and opinions were freely exchanged to encourage learning amongst peers. The participation of different types of foundations from different countries and cultures, histories and ways of operating made the conversation rich.

Inviting investment in social enterprises – A prospectus framework for the social sector

The Trust acknowledges that most not-for-profit organisations must seek their funding from a diverse range of sources – government and philanthropic grants, commercial business sponsorships and donations from businesses and individuals. One of the aims of the Trust is to help not-for-profit organisations improve their capacity to source the funds they need to meet community need.

Funding for Impact

This presentation was made to members of Philanthropy Australia in November 2006 on the results of the Overseas Study Tour undertaken by the Ross Trust’s Executive Officer, Sylvia Geddes. The presentation includes the questions the Trust asked itself as a consequence of the findings of the Study Tour and which led to the development of the revised Grant Guidelines effective from December 2006.
