Smart grant applications on hold due to increased demand for funding

3 Jun 2021

The Ross Trusts exists to create positive social and environmental change so Victorians can thrive.

In line with our Vision, we are progressing well with supporting important projects that align with our current funding priorities of educational equity and biodiversity conservation.

The Ross Trust trustees have kept a strong focus throughout 2020 and 2021, both on how to continue to deliver on our granting strategy and current funding priorities of educational equity and biodiversity conservation, whilst also continuing to respond to the immediate issues at hand, particularly the ongoing impacts of coronavirus and natural disasters, such as bushfires, on the Victorian community.

With demand for these much-needed grants continuing to increase, we’ve decided to put applications via our website for Smart Grants for Educational Equity and Biodiversity Conservation on hold until 1 July 2022.

We will continue to work with current and new grant partners through our invitation only Grants to support the important work and contribution to the Victorian community these projects make.

We are continuing important commitments into the next financial year:

  • Granting in our two dedicated funding priorities – educational equity and biodiversity conservation.
  • Priority will be given to organisations, communities and schools that strongly align with our Theories of Change.
  • We will also be focused on continuing our partnerships with organisations that remain impacted by coronavirus and bushfires.
  • Within these two funding priorities, we will consider both immediate and long-term needs in communities most affected by these crises.
  • Due to the high demand for grants, The Trust has already made a significant number of grant commitments into the next financial year.
  • Demand for funds continues to increase and because of this, we are not able to meet the funding requirements of all requests.
Whilst the challenges of 2020 continue into 2021, we look forward to working with and learning from our current and new grant partners, and their work, into the next financial year and creating positive social and environmental change in Victoria.
